고전 수사학의 역사를 기본적으로 이해하기 위해서 최근 프린스톤대학에서 출판한 케네디의 새로쓴 고전수사학사를
소개합니다. 소피스트로부터 어거스틴까지를 주로 고전 수사학사에서 다룹니다.
헬라수사학과 로마 수사학, 중세 기독교 수사학이 그 주된 분류입니다. 중요한것은 어거스틴이 기독교인으로서
일반 수사학에서 중요한 수사학자로 지목되고 있다는 점입니다. 소피스트, 플라톤, 아리스토텔레스, 퀸틸리안, 키케로
등을 잇는 고전수사학의 중요한 인물로 어거스틴이 서있습니다.
